A man was hospitalized in critical condition Saturday night after the car he was driving slammed into a building at the corner of Southeast Fifth Avenue and Hillsboro Boulevard in Deerfield Beach, a fire rescue official said.
The man, who was not identified, was taken to Broward Health North after the 9:35 p.m. accident.
He was driving a Ford Explorer when he hit the eastern side of the building, on the southeast corner of the intersection, said Mike Jachles, Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue.
The impact of the crash inflated the SUV's airbags, but there didn't appear to be much damage to the building, Jachles said.
