Sexual assault case against officer active again after DNA request, records show

Riviera Beach police have reactivated an investigation into a Palm Beach Shores police officer facing allegations he sexually assaulted a blind woman on two occasions while he was on duty.

Officer Charles Hoeffer, 53, was recently ordered via a search warrant to turn over DNA samples.

A Riviera Beach woman claims that Hoeffer sexually assaulted her while he was on duty on two separate occasions in her home. In April, the Riviera Beach Police Department requested DNA from Hoeffer in connection to the accusations, and received the sample on May 4.

Hoeffer came under fire earlier this year after local media reports detailed his multiple sexual assault allegations at two different South Florida police agencies during his 27-year career.
