Roman Dominguez Defeats Nation’s No. 1 Player Jokic

defeated No. 1 Katrina Jokic in straight sets in USF's 5-2 loss to Georgia, at the Lindsey Hopkins Indoor Tennis Facility, in Athens, GA., on Friday afternoon.

Roman Dominguez (Burgos, Spain), extended her win streak to 4-0 when she beat Jokic (Novi Grad, Bosnia) on the top court on Friday afternoon. Roman Dominguez and Jokic battled in a tiebreaker for the first set, 7-6(4), before Roman Dominguez sealed the win, 6-2, in the second set.

The Bulls battled ranked opponents on each court, and ultimately could not overcome the Bulldogs. After taking the doubles point, Georgia clinched the match with straight-set wins on courts four, two and three over senior Vanja Klaric (Gaborone, Bostwana), 6-0, 6-1, freshman Laura Pellicer Perello (Valencia, Spain), 6-4, 6-3, and sophomore Evelyne Tiron (Bucharest, Romania), 6-3, 6-1.
