Mother of four killed in hit-and-run crash in Pompano

POMPANO BEACH — Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver involved in a crash that killed a mother of four just days before her birthday, the Broward Sheriff's Office said.

Fredericka A. Howard, 30, of Pompano Beach, was killed in the crash about 2:45 a.m. Saturday, the Broward Sheriff's Office said in a news release late Sunday. Howard would have turned 31 on Tuesday.

A white Ford F-150 truck was speeding on West Atlantic Boulevard near Northwest 16th Avenue when it hit Howard's car on the driver's side door, BSO said.

The driver of the truck fled the scene.
