TAMPA, JAN. 11, 2016 –Freshman Kitija Laksa (Riga, Latvia) was named The American Women’s Basketball Player of the Week Monday after guiding USF to a 2-1 week.
Laksa shocked the league in three outings and totaled 76 points in an efficient manner, shooting 52 percent from the floor, including a 63 percent three-point shooting effort. In the Bulls’ 40-point win over UCF, Laksa led the team with 21 points, but the freshman’s career night came in a 83-56 thumping of SMU. Laksa turned in a the second highest single-game point total in program history, scoring 38 points thanks to a program record eight three-pointers in the game.
