Laksa Named Finalist for Shooting Guard of the Year

TAMPA, JAN. 30, 2018 – Junior sharpshooter Kitija Laksa was named a finalist for the 2018 Ann Meyers Drysdale Award, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced Tuesday. Laksa is one of 10 finalists recognized as the top collegiate shooting guards in Division I.

Laksa (Riga, Latvia) started her junior campaign on the initial watch list of 20 in November and made the second cut for the award after an exceptional start to the season. Laksa averages 19.6 points per game this season and has turned in nine 20-point games. The guard has a USF program-best nine 30-point games in her three-year career, including two this year.
