TAMPA, MARCH 4, 2016 – After claiming a spot on the American Athletic Conference Second Team and becoming a unanimous All-Freshman Team pick, University of South Florida freshman forward Kitija Laksa (Riga, Latvia) has one more accolade to add to her resume: The American Freshman of the Year. The USF newcomer was voted the league’s best freshman by The American women’s basketball head coaches, the conference announced Friday. Senior Courtney Williams (Folkston, Ga.) was also named the league’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Laksa is the second player in program history to be named a conference Freshman of the Year.
