TAMPA, FEB. 13, 2017 – A pair of Bulls picked up both American Athletic Conference weekly awards after a 2-0 week for the University of South Florida women’s basketball team, the league announced Monday. Sophomore forward Kitija Laksa was tabbed Player of the Week and freshman forward Tamara Henshaw brought home Freshman of the Week honors.
Laksa (Riga, Latvia) averaged 27.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game while shooting 57.9 percent in a pair of wins for the Bulls, which included a win over a top-50 RPI Tulane Sunday.
The three-time Player of the Week started the week with her fifth 30-point outing this season, pouring in 34 points at East Carolina, four points shy of her career high.
