Former USF Pitcher Shane McClanahan Named to MLB All-Star Team

For the first time ever, a former USF baseball player will play in the all-star game after Tampa Bay Rays’ ace Shane McClanahan was named to the all-star team on Sunday.

McClanahan spent three seasons with the Bulls where he racked up the strikeouts, and dazzled fans with a fastball that touched 100 MPH. But, it wasn’t until he was drafted by the Rays that he fully realized his potential.

The lefty ace has catapulted himself into the Cy Young race this season while posting a 1.73 ERA and notching an MLB-leading 141 strikeouts so far this season.
