1. New Rules Benefit Strong Defensive Teams
Under the rules for 2015-16, the fifth foul (and every subsequent foul) in each 10-minute quarter will result in two free throws. There will be no more 1-and-1 situations for fouls 7-9 of the half, meaning teams who foul often will be giving up more free throw chances.
Head Coach Jose Fernandez and the Bulls pride themselves on defense. USF defends well without fouling, and limits trips to the free throw line. Last season the Bulls averaged just 15 fouls per game, and were one of just four teams to record just one foul-out during the year.
