TAMPA (Jan. 26, 2016)— After an impressive start to the month of January, senior Roberto Cid was named the men’s tennis Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
Over the weekend, Cid, the 17th-ranked player in the nation, took down two top 25 opponents to help USF seal wins over No. 31 FSU and No. 30 LSU. The Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic native defeated FSU’s Benjamin Lock, ranked 15th in the nation, 6-3, 6-1, before topping No. 22 Jordan Daigle of LSU, 7-6, 6-2.
The pair of wins by Cid helped lead USF to its first ever berth in the ITA National Team Indoor Championships.
