HOUSTON, March 31, 2019 – USF swept Houston with a 3-0 shutout win in the series finale behind a 13-strikeout performance from pitcher .
USF (26-14, 4-2) got on the board in the third inning with a run by junior (West Palm Beach, Fla.). Lay singled to right field, advanced a base on a sacrifice bunt and scored when junior (Schwenksville, Pa.) hit a ball to the shortstop who committed a throwing error, giving Lay a chance to score.
Lay crossed home for a second time in the top of the fifth inning. She hit her second single of the day, stole second and advanced to third on an error by Houston.
