'Bull Sharks' Ready to Attack in New Defensive Look

USF Senior Writer

Playing in the new 4-2-5 scheme, USF’s fast and furious defense swarmed ball carriers during team work that featured a pick-6 by senior linebacker Zack Bullock off a tipped pass at the line.

“This is a natural scheme for us,” senior defensive back Jamie Byrd said. “I feel like we don’t have to go out there and think as much. Everybody is just getting to the ball.”

With Tom Allen’s appointment to defensive coordinator, USF made the switch from a 3-4 base defense to the new scheme in the spring.
