Will Muschamp needs another offensive coordinator after firing Kurt Roper

South Carolina still hasn’t found the solution to its offensive woes, and now offensive coordinator Kurt Roper is paying the price.

The Gamecocks fired Roper on Wednesday ahead of the team’s trip to the Outback Bowl against Michigan. In a statement, coach Will Muschamp said he had decided to “go in a different direction.” Wide receivers coach Bryan McClendon will serve as the team’s play-caller for the Michigan game.

Roper’s firing continues the revolving door of coordinators under Muschamp, who now will be looking for his fourth offensive coordinator. Charlie Weis, Brent Pease and now Roper have run offenses at Florida and South Carolina under Muschamp without lasting more than two years.
