South Carolina football is in need of running backs. On the 2023 roster, only one scholarship running back is an underclassman, and that is true freshman DJay Braswell. The Gamecocks only have one back committed in the class of 2024 (4-star Matthew Fuller), but they are expected to take at least one more before the recruiting cycle ends.
Barring an unforeseen influx of ball carriers over the next year, in the class of 2025, South Carolina football should be expected to take multiple backs again. One of the top players on the Gamecocks’ recruiting board at the position in next year’s class is Georgia running back Justin Baker.
