South Carolina falls to Illinois State in foul-filled affair

Missed shots, whistles, more missed shots and more whistles defined South Carolina’s first loss this basketball season.

Illinois State beat the Gamecocks 69-65 at HTC Center on Friday as part of the relocated Puerto Rico Tip-Off tournament.

USC (2-1) will now play with the loser of Boise State-UTEP at 10:30 a.m. Friday.

The Gamecocks shot just 29.5 from the field and were whistled for an eye-popping 32 fouls. They played the final five minutes without star forward Chris Silva, who fouled out.
