Reserve G Kaydra Duckett leaving South Carolina

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Reserve guard Kaydra Duckett is leaving South Carolina.

Duckett announced her decision to transfer on Twitter Wednesday. She tweeted that she wants "to continue my basketball career at another institution."

Duckett, a 5-foot-8 sophomore, stepped away from the team in early January to concentrate on academics. She played eight games this season, averaging less than seven minutes an outing.

Duckett was part of the recruiting class in which the Gamecocks landed three McDonald's All-Americans: A'ja Wilson, Jatarie White and Bianca Cuevas.

The Gamecocks had hoped Duckett would develop into a solid backcourt option following the departure of senior ball handlers Tiffany Mitchell and Khadijah Sessions.
