Marcus Lattimore won’t work on the South Carolina football staff after all.
The former Gamecocks running back will not be part of the USC staff because of outside interests in which he works with recruitable athletes. South Carolina head coach Will Muschamp had originally planned to bring Lattimore on board as an advisor to players.
Lattimore confirmed to The (Columbia) State on Friday that his work in youth camps and through his foundation would constitute an unfair recruiting advantage in the eyes of the NCAA. The NCAA did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
South Carolina’s career leader in touchdowns, Lattimore was to work as a life skills coach upon his graduation in May.
