Alex Frampton is just 13 years old, but he was in Williams-Brice Stadium on that day in 2012 when Marcus Lattimore had his knee wrecked.
“That was pretty traumatic, and it was really sad,” said Frampton, who plays junior varsity football at Palmetto Christian Academy in Mount Pleasant. “I remember how the teams came together and were one. They weren’t rivals anymore, and they came together to uplift him.”
Lattimore’s backstory at South Carolina -- his fantastic freshman season, his knee injuries as a sophomore and then again as a junior, his determined battle to overcome those injuries, and his brief NFL shot with the 49ers -- resonates with kids even today, as was clear Saturday at Lattimore’s First Choice Fit football camp in Charleston, at Harmon Field across from Burke High School.
