COLUMBIA — Frank Martin knows Michael Carrera will want to play this week in the SEC Tournament. But South Carolina’s head coach also knows he’ll need his team’s top scorer and rebounder for more basketball to come.
The Gamecocks’ senior forward missed the regular-season finale Saturday at Arkansas with a right hip injury which had him hobbling on crutches. USC went into Bud Walton Arena and won anyway, scoring a 76-61 victory which locked up the No. 3 seed in this week’s SEC Tournament in Nashville, Tenn., and a double-bye into the quarterfinals.
That means an additional day off for the Gamecocks (24-7), who will play either No.
