Gamecocks grab another pair of hoops wins

After losing their opener in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off Classic, the Gamecocks salvaged their trip to Conway with a 2-1 record, beating the Broncos for the second time this week to secure a fifth-place finish in the tournament.

While the Gamecocks got off to a slow start and clung to just a 35-34 lead over Western Michigan at halftime, a big second half powered them to the victory. Forward Chris Silva and guard Wesley Myers led South Carolina with 14 points a piece. Myers, a graduate transfer from Maine, saw his first extended action of the season, coming off the bench to play 27 minutes and going 5-of-9 from the field.
