COLUMBIA — Frank Martin had planned to take his South Carolina men’s basketball team on an international trip next summer. But after an offseason of roster turnover, the USC head coach moved it up one year.
South Carolina leaves Saturday for a six-day trip to Costa Rica that will include two games against the Costa Rican national team and a variety of practices and clinics. The Gamecocks are also able to practice for 10 days under NCAA rules before departing.
“When we had that change in roster we didn’t expect to have, then all of the sudden our team was going to be very top- and bottom-heavy in experience,” Martin said Thursday.
