The Gamecocks have been on a break, which is just as well — they caught a 76-56 beating from Houston their last time out. The Cougars led wire-to-wire and South Carolina had no answers to their offensive attack, allowing Houston to shoot 50% from the field and go 9-of-17 from 3. Correspondingly, the Gamecocks were ice cold, posting a 32% mark from the field and slogging through another miserable performance from distance (24%) and the free-throw line (63%). That last one, especially, is something South Carolina needs to make a priority.
