ESPN: Gamecocks assistant talked with Oklahoma State about defensive coordinator job

South Carolina defensive line coach Lance Thompson has been well-traveled around the southeast through a long career with at least 10 stops.

According to an ESPN report, he’s at least a candidate for another.

ESPN’s Jake Trotter tweeted Thompson has spoken to and is one of at least six candidate for the open defensive coordinator job at Oklahoma State. The Cowboys parted ways with Glenn Spencer, who became coordinator in 2011.

Oklahoma State's ongoing search for a defensive coordinator has included talks with six candidates, including Tulane defensive coordinator Jack Curtis, South Carolina assistant head coach Lance Thompson, Duke defensive coordinator Jim Knowles and Troy.
