South Carolina wide receiver Deebo Samuel was not present when an alleged assault took place at a Columbia bar last weekend, according to his lawyer.
Columbia attorney Neal M. Lourie said in a statement Thursday released to the State that Samuel was “innocent of all allegations” as his law firm had confirmed that Samuel was not present at Five Points Saloon at the time of the alleged April 29 incident.
“It’s unfortunate his reputation was tarnished by inaccurate reporting and a rush to publish a story without any independent corroboration,” Lourie said in the release.
