It took a little longer than expected but Xavier Johnson is South Alabama's all-time leading rusher.
Johnson, who entered the season 362 yards shy of Kendall Houston's school record of 2,587 yards, might have broken the record in last week's 19-8 win over Troy had he not left the game in the first half with an ankle injury.
He entered Saturday's homecoming game against Louisiana-Monroe 13 yards shy of the record. After getting a week and a half to let the ankle heal, Johnson wasted no time breaking it.
