WOMENS BASKETBALL EARNS BID TO WNIT, WILL FACE LAMAR IN OPENING ROUND

FORT COLLINS, Colo. — The University of South Alabama women's basketball team earned an at-large bid to the Women's National Invitational Tournament as announced by the selection committee on Monday evening.

The Jaguars will take on the Lamar University Cardinals (24-6) at the Montagne Center in Beaumont, Texas on Friday, March 22 in the opening round. Tip-off is TBA. The winner of that game will take on the winner of Wyoming vs. Northern Colorado in the second round of the tournament.

This is the fourth time in program history that South Alabama is headed to the WNIT, and the Jags go back to the postseason for the second straight year after advancing to the semifinals of the WBI last season.
