MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. | Colette Uys captured gold in the women's shot put to lead South Alabama on day two of the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Uys finished with a personal best throw of 16.68 meters (55-03.75) on her third throw of the event, winning by just over two feet. She was joined in earning points for the Jags by Bodine Degli-Umberti in eighth place with a throw of 14.58 meters (47-10.00).
The early attention on Friday was on the multi-events where Sebastian Reyneke reached the medal stand in the Decathlon with a second-place finish.
