USA TRACK & FIELD WOMEN LEAD, MEN TIED FOR SECOND AFTER DAY ONE OF SUN BELT OUTDOOR CHAMPIONSHIP

JONESBORO, Ark. – The University of South Alabama women's track and field team scored 44 points and leads the field after the opening day of the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Championship. The men's team accumulated 20 points and is tied for second, one point off the pace, entering Saturday's competition.

Michaela Preachuk and Autavia Fluker earned all-conference honors in the hammer throw. Hanna-Mai Vaikla (javelin), Caitlyn Dressler (pole vault) and Andonet Cheruiyot (10,000m) also received all-Sun Belt recognition with top-three finishes. Defending Sun Belt heptathlon champion Emilie Berge leads the field with 3,272 points after placing in the top three in all four events Friday.
