Undersized, underappreciated Bull Barge is the beating heart of the South Alabama defense

Rush Propst has won nearly 300 games in three decades as a high school football coach in Georgia and Alabama, and he can count on one hand those who made a bigger impression on his teams than De'Themeyus "Bull" Barge.

Barge, currently a senior at South Alabama and the Jaguars' starting "Mike" linebacker, led Georgia's Colquitt County High School to a 15-0 record and the Class AAAAAA state championship in 2014. It was the Packers' first state title in 20 years and the 5-foot-10 linebacker who came to be known as Bull at age seven was a major part of it.
