WEST POINT, Miss. - Three underclassmen led the University of South Alabama men's golf team to record a 15-shot improvement over its first-round total, closing the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship on Tuesday.
Peter Staalbo, Rasmus Karlsson and Jason Mendel all improved on their first round scores to help South Alabama (298-283 - 581) to finish in the top 10 at the Bulldogs' 36-hole tournament.
"The guys played pretty solid today and improved so we could move up the leaderboard a little bit," head men's golf coach Alex Hamilton said. "Unfortunately we dug ourselves a pretty big hole yesterday.
