MOBILE, Ala. – University of South Alabama's track and field student-athletes Emilie Berge and Hunter Appling were named first-team academic all-district by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday.
Berge, the graduate from Iveland, Vest-Agder, Norway, and Appling — a junior from Cullman, Ala. — are now eligible for selection to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team that will be released in August.
A three-time All-American, Berge was named to the second-team in both the heptathlon and pentathlon during the 2019 campaign, while garnering honorable mention accolades in the heptathlon during the spring 2018 season.
