NEW ORLEANS – After a strong showing this past weekend, three University of South Alabama track and field athletes received honors from the Sun Belt Conference as announced by the league office Wednesday afternoon.
Matt Weinhold was tabbed men's field athlete of the week after breaking the school indoor season record for shot put with a 16.84m throw placing third in the event at the Jaguar Invitational. The mark ranks fifth best in the Sun Belt Conference. The junior also placed ninth in the weight throw with a 16.11m mark, a personal best.
Katheho Dyoyi and Laura Labushaigne also received league recognition swept the men's and women's track athletes of the week.
