MALIBU, Calif. – University of South Alabama junior Alexandria Stiteler (Bradenton, Fla.) fell to Pepperdine's Mayar Ahmed 6-3, 6-2 in the first round of the Oracle/ITA Masters in Malibu, Calif.
Stiteler will continue in the consolation bracket of the tournament in singles.
"This was one of those rare instances where I feel that we actually improved in spite of losing a match," said USA head coach Jaco Keyser. "Overall, Alex should be excited that she matched a player who finished No. 1 in doubles in the nation last year and is currently ranked in the top 15 in the nation in singles.
