SOUTH FOOTBALL RALLY FALLS JUST SHORT, TROY HOLDS ON FOR 31-24 WIN

TROY, Ala. – Jamontez Woods ran for two touchdowns and Tez Johnson added another in the first half Saturday as Troy held off a second-half comeback by the University of South Alabama to pick up a 31-24 football victory in the annual "Battle For The Belt" at Veterans Memorial Stadium.

KJ Robertson returned an interception for a score as well as the Trojans (5-4, 3-2 Sun Belt) led 31-14 at the break. Carlton Martial led all players with 14 stops while TJ Harris and Jordan Anthony added 10 apiece for Troy.

Desmond Trotter, who came on in relief of an injured Jake Bentley on the opening series of the game, accounted for three touchdowns including going 20-of-32 passing for 138 yards and two scores for the Jaguars (5-4, 2-4 SBC).
