Former South Alabama center fielder Travis Swaggerty has agreed on a contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates, who selected him in the first round of last week's MLB draft.
Swaggerty, the No. 10 overall pick, agreed to a signing bonus worth a reported $4.4 million. He will be assigned to the West Virginia Black Bears of the short-season New York-Penn League, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
