South Alabama senior defensive end Rocel McWilliams is out indefinitely with an apparent Achilles tendon injury suffered in Friday's practice, Jaguars head coach Steve Campbell confirmed to AL.com.
The Jaguars are still awaiting final results from an MRI exam, but if McWilliams' injury is as serious as feared, the Pensacola native would be out for the year. As a fifth-year senior, he would have to apply to the NCAA for a sixth season of eligibility.
McWilliams was battling this fall for a starting job at defensive end with fellow seniors Sean Grayer and Chason Milner. He was present at Saturday's scrimmage with his leg on a knee walker.
