Count South Alabama football coach Joey Jones squarely in favor of the Sun Belt Conference's new divisional alignment.
Sun Belt officials announced earlier this week that the league would split into 5-team, East and West divisions for football beginning in 2018, when Coastal Carolina joins the conference as a football-playing member and Idaho and New Mexico State exit. The league will also play a championship game beginning that season, with the highest-ranked division champion serving as host.
"We're excited about having a championship game," Jones said Thursday while at the Mitchell Center to speak at the annual L'Arche Football Preview dinner.
