South Alabama safety Jeremy Reaves on Wednesday was named 2017 Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Year.
Reaves, a senior from Pensacola, led the Jaguars this season with 104 tackles, seven tackles for loss, three interceptions and three forced fumbles. He will cap his college career by playing the East-West Shrine Game Jan. 20 in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Reaves was also named first-team All-Sun Belt for the second straight year after picking up second-team honors as a sophomore in 2015. He is joined on the all-conference first team by South Alabama kicker Gavin Patterson and punter Corliss Waitman.
