South Alabama football coach Joey Jones confirmed Tuesday that running back Diantae Thomas has been dismissed for violation of team rules.
Thomas, a rising senior, was dismissed prior to the start of fall camp. He was arrested in a gun-related incident in Florida over the summer.
A junior-college transfer, Thomas spent last season at safety before moving to running back in the spring. The former Dothan High School standout totaled 15 tackles and a forced fumble in a back-up role in 2016.
Thomas was one of two veteran USA players who did not return for fall camp.
