South Alabama's Andrew Reinkemeyer granted sixth season of eligibility

South Alabama tight end Andrew Reinkemeyer has been granted a sixth year of eligibility after the NCAA recently ruled in his favor, team spokesman Brian Fremund confirmed to AL.com on Wednesday.

Reinkemeyer missed the entire 2016 season with a torn Achilles tendon suffered in junior college the previous year. He returned to health at USA in 2017, and the Jaguars' starting tight end for much of the year.

Reinkemeyer appeared to confirm the news via Twitter last Friday after teammate David Gardner first mentioned it:

Congrats to my brother @A_Reink16 on getting that 6th year!
