South Alabama throttled by Appalachian State in 52-7 blowout

It got ugly fast for South Alabama on Saturday at Appalachian State.

The Jaguars allowed 35 unanswered points in the first half on their way to 52-7 loss to Appalachian State at Kidd Brewer Stadium in Boone, N.C. South Alabama (1-4, 1-1 Sun Belt Conference) has now lost four of its first five games, and has allowed a whopping 220 points in the process.

Quarterback Zac Thomas, a Trussville native, passed for two touchdowns and ran for two more for the Mountaineers (3-1, 1-0). He ran for a 54-yard touchdown on the game's opening series, and finished with 77 yards rushing and 146 passing.
