South Alabama punter Corliss Waitman has been named Ray Guy Award Punter of the Week by the Augusta Sports Council.

Waitman, a redshirt junior, averaged 46.4 yards per punt in a 21-13 loss to Georgia State last Saturday. He placed four of five kicks inside the Panthers' 20-yard line and had three punts of at least 50 yards.

"We are one of the best punting teams in the country and that's because Corliss is kicking the ball extremely well and we are covering punts well too," South Alabama coach Joey Jones said. "I'm happy for him winning the national award today.
