South Alabama offensive lineman Nelson Santiago could miss up to three weeks due to an ankle injury suffered in practice on Monday, Jaguars coach Joey Jones said.
Santiago, a sophomore from Orange Park, Fla., had been working with the first team at right guard throughout most of fall camp. He is expected to undergo a minor surgical procedure to repair a high ankle sprain, but could return for the Sept. 2 season-opener against Ole Miss.
"It's kind of a new thing they do to fix that high ankle sprain," Jones said Thursday. "It's the same thing (former USA lineman De'Arius Young) had last year.
