Most of the talk, perhaps deservedly so, coming into Friday's South Alabama home game with No. 11 Oklahoma State was about the Cowboys' high-powered offense.
But Oklahoma State's defense nearly delivered a shutout against the Jaguars, winning 44-7 at Ladd-Peebles Stadium. South Alabama did not manage a first down until midway through the second quarter, and did not score until the game's final five minutes.
"I thought the defense was excellent," Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy said. "Our guys did a good job of stopping the run and getting off the field and allowing our offense to get going, once we got rolling and started playing fast.
