For the first time in more than five years, South Alabama will play a regular-season football game that will have no bearing on its postseason fortunes.
Already eliminated from bowl contention, the Jaguars (4-7, 3-4 Sun Belt Conference) end their season at New Mexico (5-6, 3-4) on Saturday. It will be the final game not only for more than a dozen USA seniors, but also head coach Joey Jones.
"A lot of people want to send coach Jones out with a win because of everything he's done for us; we want to do right for him," senior offensive guard Harrison Louden said.
