South Alabama's 73-70 victory over Arkansas State in its regular season finale is the type of win that can resonate into the postseason, or at least that's what the Jaguars are hoping.
South Alabama (14-17) is the No. 9 seed for the Sun Belt Conference tournament, and opens postseason play Wednesday against No. 8 seed Coastal Carolina (15-16). Tip-off is set for 11:30 a.m. at UNO Lakefront Arena in New Orleans.
The Jaguars knocked off the No. 5 seed Red Wolves last Saturday on Ken Williams' last-second 3-pointer. South Alabama had had trouble closing out games against high-profile teams in recent weeks, but finally did so against an Arkansas State team that ended up tied for third in the final conference standings.
