South Alabama lineman Tyler Grimsley not expected back this fall

South Alabama offensive lineman Tyler Grimsley is not expected to return to the team in the fall, a source has confirmed to AL.com.

Grimsley, a Miami transfer, started the Jaguars' first five games at left guard in 2017 before suffering a season-ending knee injury. He had participated only sparingly in spring practice, and was not spotted on the sideline at Saturday's Red-Blue spring game.

South Alabama used three different starters at left guard following Grimsley's injury: D'Tavieus Taylor for five games and Nelson Santiago and Zach Davis for one game each. Santiago also left the team this spring, while Taylor was sidelined by injury for much of practice and Davis has been working mostly at center.
