South Alabama gets 2018 commitment from 3-star Florida DE Jaaron Jackson

South Alabama picked up its first out-of-state commitment for the 2018 recruiting class over the weekend, landing 3-star Florida defensive end Jaaron Jackson.

The 6-foot-2 1/2, 240-pound Jackson is a rising senior at Kathleen High School in Lakeland, Fla., the alma mater of former NFL superstar Ray Lewis. He also has scholarship offers from Southern Miss, Marshall, Georgia State and Troy, among other schools.

Jackson told AL.com the academics at USA stood out to him.

"The education I can get at South Alabama is great," Jackson said. "They have a good medical program there, which I really liked.
