South Alabama's Sun Belt Conference woes continued on Saturday night, and against one of the worst teams in the league.
The Jaguars fell 42-35 in overtime at Louisiana-Monroe, dropping to 4-5 overall and 1-5 in Sun Belt play. USA must win two of its final three against Presbyterian, Idaho and New Mexico State to be bowl-eligible.
On Saturday, South Alabama piled up 516 yards of total offense, but was undone by 12 penalties for 83 yards. The Jaguars also allowed ULM (3-6, 2-3) to go 4-for-4 on fourth-down conversions and to score touchdowns on all five trips into the red zone.
